James F. Garner, Sr.

James F. Garner, Sr., age 77, of Friendsville, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from Illinois Auto Electric Company in Aurora, IL after 32 years of service. Mr. Garner was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 50 years. He loved visiting with family and friends and enjoyed his many trips to the Great Smoky Mountains. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Holder Garner; parents, Elmer and Margaret Reagan Garner; brothers, John Edward and Wilson Ralph Garner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Troy and Ellen Franklin Holder; sister and brother-in-law, Wright K. and Viola Irene Garner Sloan; and brother-in-law, Norman Karnik. He is survived by his children, James F. Garner, Jr. of Elmhurst, IL, Phyllis Ann Garner Vruno of Sandwich, IL, David E. Garner of Neosho, MO, and John Henry Garner of IL; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marge Garner of Midlothian, IL, Rose Garner of Greenback, Clyde and Lynn Garner of Knoxville, and Kenneth and Charlene Garner of Oak Lawn, IL; sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy and L.J. Hampton of Lockport, IL and Margaret Inez Karnik of Crestwood, IL; uncle, Harrison Reagan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will gather 11:00 AM Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Marble Hill Cemetery for the gravesides service and interment, Rev. Keith Ross and Rev. Jordan Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
